Three questions need separate answers

Job Bank directs foreign candidates to check work eligibility and whether qualifications are recognised for the occupation. A professional licence, educational assessment and immigration or work permission serve different purposes. One document does not automatically answer all three. The province and precise occupation matter, especially where a regulated title or activity is involved.

Identify the intended activity

Write the actual duties, occupation and province, not only the translated diploma name. Identify the responsible professional regulator where regulation applies. Ask what evidence, assessment and supervised practice may be required for that role. Keep a written list of requirements so that a recruiter’s informal statement is not mistaken for the regulator’s decision.

Check before buying a service

Confirm who accepts the proposed assessment and for what purpose. Review the provider, fees, documents and refund terms. Do not assume an assessment marketed for immigration is accepted for a particular professional licence. Use verified channels for original documents and keep copies and receipts; avoid sending irreplaceable records to an unverified intermediary.

Describe progress accurately in applications

State the qualification held and whether recognition or licensing is pending, without using a protected title you are not entitled to use. Check that the vacancy can accept your current work eligibility. This guide cannot approve immigration, certify equivalence or promise an employer will hold a role while a regulator reviews your application.

Hypothetical illustration: an assessment has a purpose

An applicant holds an overseas qualification and an educational assessment, but the vacancy asks for a provincial professional licence. The applicant should identify the regulated activity and ask the responsible regulator whether that assessment is accepted and which requirements remain. Separately check work permission for this job. The assessment should not be labelled a professional licence merely because it confirms education. Ask the recruiter whether the role can consider an applicant whose licensing is still pending, without assuming the job will be held.

Take a specific question to the right body

Prepare the province, intended duties, qualification held, assessment purpose and application status. Ask the regulator about the licence, the relevant immigration or work-permission authority about eligibility, and the recruiter about the vacancy’s conditions. Keep each response with its date and issuing body. When answers appear inconsistent, identify which purpose each document serves instead of buying another assessment on an intermediary’s general promise.
